Stress state and P-T-t path during Orogeny

Presentation

Block 4 is dedicated to the parametrization of orogenic processes, including pressure, thermicity, chemistry and stress through the entire orogenic evolution.
The challenge of Block 4 is not only located in near field orogens regions but also aims to unravel the far field effects of orogeny.

The methods

Block 4 is deeply multi-methods and deals  with:

  • Field geology,
  • In-situ / detrital low-temperature thermochronology performed both on outcrops and wells samples,
  • Classical middle to high-temperature geochronology,
  • Subsurface data analysis and interpretation,
  • Palaeo-barometry,
  • Numerical modelling

Pr. Frederic Mouthereau from GET Université de Toulouse (France) is the Principal Investigator of Block 4. The research in Block 4 is fueled by 2 Post-doc & 4 PhD projects scattered in Toulouse (OMP) and UPMC (Paris VI).
