Presentation
This project is dedicated to apply the source-to-sink methodology to the cratonic context of the Guiana shield area and its atlantic margin, by characterizing the transient sediment storage, identifying the vertical motion markers and their amplitude, characterize the sedimentary architectures and quantify sediment accumulation to provide a mass balance and conclude on their geodynamic causes.
- The evolution of the source erosion is mapped through low-T thermochronology data acquisition and modeling. (U/Th – He) dating on Iron Oxydes documents chemical erosion pattern and timing, associated to geomorphological assessment of erosionnal surfaces repartitions.
- The sink response have been extensively studied by seismic profiles analysis offshore Guyana-Surinam and French Guiana.
- The overall paleogeographic and geodynamic framework was built through compilation maps from Permian to Miocene times.
View results presented by Dr. Delphine Rouby, Dr. Cécile Gautheron and Dr. Flora Bajolet.
